       hanamachi literally means "flower town." It is usually used in refrence to the geisha districts in Japan. The reason I chose it for the title of this game is because it is set in Kyoto, Japan. No knowledge of Japan, or Kyoto is required to join this roleplay. It would be nice, but really, how often do we go into these things when we actually write? The only thing you'll need this sort of information for will probably be your first post or if your muses decide to do any traveling around.
       Present day Kyoto: Geisha have become popular again, Yakuza have more power than the government, and something is haunting the streets of Kyoto. People are disappearing, being found wounded, and limping back battered and talking nonsense of bloodsuckers and demons.
This game may seem complicated but it is actually rather simple. Your character can be one of the following, a faerie, a geisha, a yakuza, a vampire, a vampire hunter, a werewolf, an involved person, or a regular person. More information on the character types can be found here.

一。 we will accept muses of any ethnicity. just because the game is set in Japan does not mean that everyone has to be Japanese. we will also accept muses of any sexuality.

三。 everyone will be treated equally. we all like to come into games with storylines already set up and all that jazz, but don't be so fixated on what you already have to leave others out.
四。 do not be afraid to message people. we are all here to play.
五。 activity is a big thing, as the mod, I can't play with all of you but if you are inactive for more than two weeks you will be removed from the community. this will be based on the following criteria; AIM play/threading, posting in kabuki_theater & your characters own personal journal. journal updates should be made at least twice a month. more if you can swing it. if not, as previously stated, scening activity and activity in the random/lyric community will also be taken into account. if you need to take a hiatus, it will be granted and you will be exempt from this rule for as long as you needed, as long as you let me know.
七。 you can have up to two muses. if you have two and you really need another, you can contact me and i may make an exception but it will depend on how active you are with your other two already, so good luck with that.

Beyond the Darkness

The Premise

Voldemort is dead – has been for almost seven years now – the war should have been over that night long ago when Harry Potter did what no one dared believe he would do. The war, however, didn't end, but went on. Regrouping under Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange, the Death Eaters kept fighting and with the Ministry gone and the Minister for Magic killed, the wizarding world was thrown into chaos.

From this chaos, two new factions were born. One group (under the leadership of Minerva McGonagall) wanted to open wizarding society to a decidedly suspicious Muggle world, whilst the others wanted to close off the wizarding world completely from Muggle influence and seek strength in isolation. With a brutal attack destroying Diagon Alley that left a part of London burning, the two factions of light realised that they must start working together to defeat the Death Eaters.

The game began at this turning point of the war - the point where the side of light finally has a chance to win. But there is still a long way to go. Can these two factions put aside their differences to finally win this war, or will they dissolve into their own fighting, giving the Death Eaters a chance to overcome?

Beyond the Darkness RPG is a role-playing game based on the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The setting takes place seven years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ends but is canon compliant only to Half Blood Prince (as the game began before the release of book seven).

If you're looking for a game where player influence on the main plot is high and the moderators are willing to listen to your suggestions, then this is the game for you. One year running and still going strong, we see a bright future for the game. With plot-lines running far beyond the end of the war, we're not going anywhere for a long while.

We are looking for creative and active players who want to build a story for their characters in this far from perfect world. All levels of experience are welcome, from the players who have never played an RPG before, to those who have played for several years.

Despite the long awaited defeat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, the structure of the Wizarding world was still crumbling beneath the pressure. Death Eaters scattered, loyalties questioned, and the grief that ran rampant through the heart of many, prevented the immediate change in Wizarding society. After years of danger the citizens of Wizarding Britain remained cautious and intimidated.

Was He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named truly gone? Would he be able to rise again? Was the Wizarding World beyond repair? Could they dare to hope for the peaceful future that was long overdue?

With Kingsley Shaklebolt as Minister of Magic and Harry Potter taking a spot among the Aurors, Witches and Wizards everywhere began to emerge from behind locked and warded doors: to slowly return the full lives that had become distant memories of the past. The economy flourished, population increased, and most importantly a peaceful atmosphere was finally established.

It has been almost seven years since the passing of Tom Riddle. The Wizarding world has prospered, building upon the ruins of the old, but just as the past has been littered with war and heartache, so shall the future. As the year 2005 dawned on the Wizarding world, a new threat darkened the doorstep of the Wizarding world. It isn't Muggleborns or Half-bloods being targeted. Not this time. This time Purebloods are falling beneath the onslaught of discrimination. Threatening letters and words written in blood have appeared at several Pureblood homes and popular Wizarding establishments, all signed with the same cryptic signature.

The Society for the Destruction of Pureblood Supremacy is an organization of individuals who remember what it was like to be prosecuted for being born with Muggle blood flowing through their veins. These individuals find the new measures taken by the Ministry of Magic to be far more lenient than what they should be.

Many died during the last war because their blood was not pure, and it is believed by SDPS that the only successful measure to prevent it from happening again is to remove the threat from the equation: the complete destruction of the Pureblood families.

The Ministry of Magic has taken precautions and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement investigation in under full swing. Unfortunately, little is known about this organization. Their attacks are done by Muggle means, which leaves to room to trace a source of Magic. Letters continue to arrive and blood continues to be shed. The only way to stop the cycle is to find the source, but how long will it take to discover? Will it be too late?

The world at large is aware that there is more to life than humanity - they've known this for a long time. Human rights are more 'species rights', vampires walk amongst us, werewolves have PC terminology. Their children are educated with our children - sharing this world in harmony is the key - though we seem, still, to be a way off of that.

For all the world has been aware of the preternatural for hundreds, if not thousands, of years, the world is far from peaceful in this regard (much like in every other regard). It's getting to be a hostile environment in some countries, and the world is collectively holding it's breath as things seem to be in a time of change. Supernatural legislation is being accused of being too harsh, and both shifters and vampires both want their respective species to no longer be considered diseases and be recognized as proper races and peoples. Experimentation on the supernatural has also been going strong and people are moving to have it halted, as much of it is harmful or seems to be. There are large groups of people boycotting a company which has boasted it's tireless search for a 'cure' for everything, stating it could be used as weaponry against them as a people at large. It's motivations are publicly pure, but the implications and morality are being challenged. (note: so far they haven't 'cured' anything.)

In the midst of this lies a school with national independence. Quaesitis Academy.

The Academy is not the only school of its kind - serving, as it does, both preternatural beings and 'normal' humans, but it is considered the top of them all. It's the oldest established, and has a long, detailed history and still remains strong today. It's the only one of it's kind with national autonomy, keeping it's roots deeply in the idea that they are there for the world, not for one part of it. Getting into the school or graduating from it will open doors for a person world wide. It's often thought that if a student comes from there--they can go anywhere and do anything they want. It's the epitome of prestigious. Contrary to it's popularity and the millions they could be making on opening the school up for larger numbers, the school also maintains it's motives towards it's students. The school presumably will eternally remain small, allowing all of it's students a very hands on, interactive learning environment. No one falls through the cracks here, and they mean to keep it that way.

They take a variety of students - from the rich kids that can pay their way, to the children who are court-ordered to attend, taking in the orphans of previous pupils along the way. The mix of students is wide, considering the age range - the last two years of college, plus a three year university course. It attempts to be a world of its own, secluded as it is on a Carribean island, but the world has a way of interfering...

Once space travel seemed like such an unattainable aspiration, but the discovery of Alchemy helped make it a reality. However the mix of the magic of Alchemy with the science of space travel was met with a price no one expected. Due to ignorance and Man's all too dangerous God complex dangerous magics were tampered with. Through unbalanced experiments, they stumbled onto the legendary Gate of Truth.

It wasn't long before it was discovered just how powerful this Gate was. Traveling through the Gate of Truth required a heavy price that Man wasn't willing to pay. Instead of playing by the rules, they used science and magics to try and cheat the gate, as well as control it. This only served to confuse and anger it. Insulted by their attempt to cheat the laws of Alchemy and travel without a proper exchange, the Gates decided to put an end to Man's selfish nature and started the beginning of the apocalypse for their universe.

Unmerciful, the Gate not only turned that universe into intergalactic slums but also spread the damage and rage to nearby universes. Throughout all the chaos, people were ripped out of their own time and space and trapped in the Gate along with the Dead that hadn't had the chance of rebirth yet. The damages continued, reaching the center of the universe, finally stopped by a cluster of worlds with very sensitive and open paths strongly connecting one to the other. These are the worlds connected by Kingdom Hearts and the power of Light and when the universal rifts caused by the Gate reached the paths of Light. It began to open them releasing the trapped people and lost lives into their planets. This cluster of universes has named itself "Centerverse".

After years of barrier building and repairs to the paths by King Mickey, there was finally some balance established for the people being released into their worlds. There is no known safe way of returning these people to their homes but it has been rumored that wanted men and sky pirates still use the openings left by the damaged Gate to escape the law. They of course have to pay the hefty price required by the laws of Alchemy for their freedom.

People are still appearing in the worlds and the Dead at times do not remain dead. But thanks to an organization of moogles put together by the king called "The gate watcher" these people are given a temporary home and some munny upon arrival. Still, unknown to the citizens of Centerverse, the people left behind in the dying universes are trying in vain to fix the gate, but only seem to be making it worse. Centervese is beginning to feel some of the repercussions as the ties holding back the darkness are slowly slipping away.

centerverse is set in the Kingdom Hearts world with a pinch of Fullmetal Alchemist, alchemy and Square enix's all around love of traveling above and beyond. Though it is video game and anime based it is still an utterly multi-fandom game so have fun and be creative!

*What I'm looking for in a game is activity and quality. I like at least 10 characters before I join. Although I will certainly consider new games that have fewer characters as long as the mods and players are dedicated. The year is 1000 A.D., and the Wizarding World is in awe. Four of the world's most renown sorcerers have finally finished their project. They have built a castle -- no, a school. A school that, for years to come, would house children who wished to learn the arts and skills of the various branches of magic. Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw had built a safe haven for their kind, and the whole world was excited about it.

Everyone knows the story of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. What they don't know is that there was a fifth founder. One who was rejected before the school ever opened, as his ideals were more sinister than even Salazar himself. He had different ideas for the school the five of them built. This man, known as Darwin Draconis, wanted to use the castle not as a school, but as a training facility. Much like the Dark Lord of our time, Draconis wished to rule the wizarding world. It was not a matter of blood purity, but simply of power and fortune. It was these ideals that sparked an argument between the founders, and Draconis eventually attempted to assassinate the other founders. He was locked away for the rest of his life, and left to rot in prison.

Draconis was the only wizard of his time to -- or any time, truthfully -- to master the distant magical arts of time manipulation. He was, after all, a brilliant wizard. Before he was thrown into a cell and left to rot, he cast a spell upon the school. Various parts of the school -- walls, artifacts, floor tiles -- were hit with enchantments that would last for years to come, if not forever. When touched by anyone with a wish to escape the school -- for whatever reason, be it a tiny bit like being hurt and angry and wanting to get away from it, or actually wanting to leave the school -- would be ripped from their time and thrown into a realm created by this master of sorcery.

Now, students and teachers alike, from all walks of time and realities, are finding themselves thrown into this world where nothing exists. There is no one aside from themselves and no way, at least that they know, to escape. They don't even know if a world exists outside of the school's grounds. Little do they know, Darwin Draconis has sent himself to this realm as well, and is plotting to fulfill his greatest desires -- to return to the Wizarding World he knew, with an army of sorcerers, and reign supreme. But, when Draconis lets himself be known, will anyone want to follow this regime?

The game is based loosely off of an old game the mods took part in over at greatestjournal, TMF. We have revamped the story and made it darker and what not. But, at the beginning, the dark wizard Draconis will not let himself be known. He is watching from a distance, watching as the ranks build. The first few months of play will simply be characters getting to know one another, interacting with people they might have never otherwise interacted with. Themselves from different times and realities, ancestors they've never met. Tempers and prejudices are at a high, and there's bound to be some drama. Join today!

Think of any long-gone deity from mythology. Imagine they once truly existed. Now imagine that they aren't truly gone but instead their essence lives on, is reincarnated inside of that guy who sits next to you on the bus every day. Or Maureen from Accounting. Or maybe even you. They could be anyone, young or old, male or female, any race, anyone.

The old deities once existed, once walked the Earth, and mortals trembled at their names. Long ago, they each slowly faded out, their existance only remembered as fables and tales. During this decline, one deity gathered up and called upon his or her last reserves of power and influence to create a reprieve, of sorts, for them all. They would find their essence, their souls if you will, not dissipated amongst the matter of the Universe but instead reborn inside a mortal body. They would be mortal, yes, their power would be greatly diminished, yes, and they might not even remember what they once were, but they would at least exist.

Times change and people grow. From war blooms peace and prosperity; from a time of constant vigilance and violence comes forth an era nurtured and protected by its past to walk a road that can only head towards a brighter future. Twenty-five years after the war while their parents are off correcting past errors, the children are out and about creating new ones.

Harry Potter is still revered as a hero, as the one who defeated the Dark Lord but as the denizens no longer lived in dark times, he’s seen more as the man who revolutionized the Auror Department at the Ministry. Still, his legend lives on, though his life is no longer the focus of the wizarding world. The Ministry for Magic has also cleaned up its corrupted lines and now focuses on promoting the welfare of the people as led by Percy Weasley.

Welcome to the year 2023. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry still stands strong and stable as the day it was built and always as magical. Children of the previous generation are the ones that run the school now, pranks have gotten more devious, and competition has only increased. Allies and enemies are formed left and right and while House loyalties are still as strong as ever, the strongest rivalries exist elsewhere.

What if they were real? The myths and legends. The things that go bump in the night. What if they were just like you?
Since the dawn of time they've been blamed for all of life's oddities. A strange noise? It must be a ghost. Pets mangled and eaten? Maybe a werewolf got them. That pale man that never ventures out in the day? A vampire, surely. Children behaving badly must be changelings, and that table had to have been forced into your path by a mischievous sprite, now giggling at your misfortune. The list goes on. For each being, there are hundreds of tales, most pure delusion of course, though much of it based in fact. From Nessie and Sasquatch to the Bermuda Triangle and the Land of Mu, our world is filled with the unattainable, the unexplainable... that which we call Myth, or Legend. Yet, like the Will O' the Wisp, or the ghost breath that sends a shiver down your spine, the truth tugs softly at our conscience. Whispers in the dark of a boogeyman in the shadows, or a fairy spinning gossamer tales in the corners of your mind. They are real. And in so many ways... they are just like you. They work. They feed. They even have children. And just like humans, those children go to school. School however, isn’t always as just classes and homework. Strange old castles often have far more lurking about them than is so readily apparent. Ancient curses have been set loose on the school. Memory loss. Sickness. Power switching... Was it an accident? Or are more sinister plans afoot? Unanswered questions abound as the students and staff first try and understand exactly what has happened to them... Welcome to Halcyon Halls.
